Here in Pasadena

In an article I recently read in the Los Angeles Times, All Saints Episcopal Church is coming under fire by the IRS for violating tax exempt status. They are in violation because they supposedly promoted a political candidate. However, All Saints was just asking their Congregation to vote based on values, such as Social Justice, not to endorse a politcal candidate.

Craig Keen said that he thought at one point the US would realize what a powerful force the church can be. They would come to the conclusion that the church rests on a different set of ideals--ones that conflict with the US and the modern nation-state. If only the church lived the teachings of Jesus, we would be heavily persecuted. It would be another Chile...

But I think the church does a sufficient enough job not living up to the teachings of Jesus...which is why we need Jesus...

the All Saints thing is ridiculous when you think about all the Convservative churches that promote Bush instead of opposing him (how many of them are being audited?) and what about Pat Robertson's campaign to assasinate Hugo Chavez? He needs an audit too I think.
